Crusty Coconut Pie

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cup coconut
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Pour milk over coconut; set aside while creaming butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat mixture well. Turn; add milk and coconut and flavoring.

Pour into unbaked pie shell; bake at 350° for about 30 minutes or until pie is golden brown.

Sassafras tree has close grained wood, very durable, used for making canoes by first settlers.
