- 1 to 1 1/4 cup white corn meal
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 tsp melted shortening
Combine dry ingredients; blend in shortening and buttermilk. Shape into flat pones, place in a well greased, preheated skillet or on a baking sheet.
Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
Yield 9 to 12 servings
