Cracker Jacks

  • 20 cup popped corn (about 1 cup unpopped)
  • 2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 sticks oleo
  • 1/2 cup white Karo syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • 2 cups peanuts, salted

Bring to slow boil; sugar, Karo syrup, oleo and boil slowly for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add soda, vanilla and salt. Pour syrup mixture over corn. Stir until well coated. Add peanuts and mix well. Pour into a large pan. (Should be deep enough for stirring while baking).

Bake at 250° for 1 hour. Stir several time during baking.
