- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 2 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp flour
- 4 or 5 Tbsp butter
- 1 tsp flavoring of choice
- 1 baked pie shell
Mix sugar, milk, cornstarch, and flour; heat slowly, adding yolk of eggs, well beaten. Cook until thick. Add batter and flavoring.
To vary this recipe, add 5 tablespoons cocoa for Chocolate Pie (1/2 cup cocoa for 2 pies).
- 1 can drained pineapple for Pineapple Pie
- 3/4 cup coconut for Coconut Pie
- 1 1/2 or 2 bananas, sliced for Banana Pie
Meringue: Beat 3 egg whites till stiff, adding 3 tablespoons sugar, beating until it stands in peaks. Top pie and bake until golden brown.
