Four In One Basic Cream Pie

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 4 or 5 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp flavoring of choice
  • 1 baked pie shell

Mix sugar, milk, cornstarch, and flour; heat slowly, adding yolk of eggs, well beaten. Cook until thick. Add batter and flavoring.

To vary this recipe, add 5 tablespoons cocoa for Chocolate Pie (1/2 cup cocoa for 2 pies).

  • 1 can drained pineapple for Pineapple Pie
  • 3/4 cup coconut for Coconut Pie
  • 1 1/2 or 2 bananas, sliced for Banana Pie

Meringue: Beat 3 egg whites till stiff, adding 3 tablespoons sugar, beating until it stands in peaks. Top pie and bake until golden brown.
