- 2 cup sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 4 eggs
- 1 bar German’s chocolate
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 tsp soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 1/2 cup sifted flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
Cream sugar and shortening, then add all eggs at one time. Melt the chocolate in the 1/2 cup boiling water; add to sugar mixture. Dissolve the 1 teaspoon soda in the buttermilk. Alternate flour and salt mixture with milk mixture, adding to the sugar and chocolate mixture.
Grease 2 round cake pans or on oblong.
Bake for 30 minutes, testing in a 350° oven.
