- 2 cups shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 whole eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp almond flavoring
- 5 cup flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
Cream shortening and sugars, eggs and flavorings in large bowl. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to creamed mixture. Chill dough. Scoop cookies onto baking pans, using a glass dipped in water.
Bake at 350° for ten minutes.
Variations: For chocolate chip or peanut cookies, add 1/2 pound of chocolate chips or peanut granules.
Makes about 60 cookies.
