Cherry Nut Bread

  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup cherry juice
  • 2 1/2 plain flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup cherries, chopped
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Combine cherry juice and milk. Sift dry ingredients together. Add eggs. Combine cherry juice and milk. Sift dry ingredients together. Add dry mixture to liquid alternately together. Cream mixture. Fold in cherries, nuts and vanilla.

Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until tested done.

Use tube pan or loaf pan.
