Angel Biscuits

  • 2 package yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 5 cup self-rising flour
  • 3/4 cup salad oil or melted shortening
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Sift together dry ingredients. Mix with oil and buttermilk. Knead enough to hold together; roll dough to 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Cut with biscuit cutter and place on greased baking sheet, brushing tops with oil or butter.

Bake at 450° for 15 minutes.
