Biscuits

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 Tbsp milk

Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening and add milk all at once. Stir until dough clings together in a ball. Knead lightly on floured board. Roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 475° for 8 to 10 minutes.

Yields 14 large or 20 small.
