D’Arbonne Hush Puppies

  • 2 cup corn meal
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 chopped jalapeno peppers
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped fine
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Mix dry ingredients. Blend in remaining ingredients. Drop with spoon in hot fat, at 375°.

Makes about 30.
