Buttermilk Pound Cake

  • 3 cup flour
  • 1 cup shortening (butter flavor)
  • 6 eggs separated
  • 1/4 tsp soda
  • 3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp lemon flavoring

Blend sugar and shortening. Add egg yolks, one at a time. Sift dry ingredients together. Mix alternately with buttermilk to sugar mixture. Fold in beaten egg whites.

Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 350° for 1 hour.
