- 2 cup sifted flour (all-purpose)
- 1 tsp salt
- 2/4 cup shortening
- 6 to 8 Tbsp ice water
Sift together flour and salt; cut in shortening and add ice water. Mix together well. Roll dough on floured cookie sheet until 1/8 inch thick. Cut into approximately 4×4 inch strips. Place 1/2 tablespoon applesauce in center. Fold over and seal edges with tips of fork.
Bake at 400° for 15 minutes. Use middle rack.
