Old-Time Bread Pudding

  • 4 slices buttered bread, toasted
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Cut bread into cubes and place in a greased 2 quart baking dish. Sprinkle with raisins; mix the eggs, 1/4 cup sugar, salt, milk and water. Pour over raisings; let set for 10 minutes. Add the vanilla and stir. Sprinkle with remaining sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 350° for minutes. Half & half may be substituted for evaporated milk.
