Brown Butter Icing

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 (1 lb) package 10XX sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Heat butter in a medium size saucepan until liquid bubbles up (is very foamy) then settles and is lightly browned. Remove from heat at once. Takes about 3 50 5 minutes. Pour butter over sugar in large bowl. Mix until crumbly. Drizzle milk over, blend until smooth. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons more milk, if necessary to make smooth and spreadable.
