Grandma’s Tea Cakes


  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cup flour
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp soda

Cream sugar and butter; add vanilla and egg. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with buttermilk. Roll in small amount of flour and pinch off about 1 teaspoon at a time. Flatten with your hands.

Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes at 350°.

For extra flavor, use 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon lemon flavoring.
