Farmerville First Baptist Church Sesquicentennial Cookbook 1847-1997
- 2 square unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup oleo
- 2 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
Pour boiling water over chocolate and stir until melted. Cream together oleo, and brown sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Add flour, soda, salt, buttermilk and vanilla. Pour chocolate over mixture and stir well.
Bake in layers at 325 degrees until done.
Use Chocolate Icing.
CHOCOLATE ICING
- 2 square chocolate
- 5 Tbsp oleo
- Dash of salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Melt chocolate and oleo over hot water. Add other ingredients and mix well.
