Jam Cake

Farmerville First Baptist Church Sesquicentennial Cookbook 1847-1997

  • 3 cup flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 whole eggs
  • 1 cup jam
  • 1 tsp red cake coloring

Oven temperature is 350 degrees. Mix. butter with sugar and cream well. Add egg yolks one at a time. Add jam. Sift dry ingredients together and add to butter and sugar alternately with the buttermilk. Beat egg whites and yolks into batter. Pour into 2 round or square pans and bake. Put together with filling of your choice.
