Helen’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Farmerville First Baptist Church Sesquicentennial Cookbook 1847-1997

  • 1/2 cup oleo
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 cup plus 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp hot water
  • 1 (6 oz) package semi-sweet chips
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Cream oleo and sugar. Add egg and beat. Mix dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture. Add hot water. Mix well. Add nuts, chips and vanilla. Drop by teaspoonful onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

You may double recipe, using only 1 package chips and leave out pecans if you wish.

Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
