Chocolate Pies

Ethel Wilkes
Farmerville First Baptist Church Sesquicentennial Cookbook 1847-1997

  • 3 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 corn cornstarch
  • 10 Tbsp cocoa
  • 6 cup milk (I use 3 large cans evaporated milk and 1 1/2 cup water)
  • 1 1/2 sticks oleo
  • 9 eggs, separated

This mixture makes 3 pies.

In large microwave bowl put in sugar, cornstarch, and cocoa; stir until well blended. Add milk (or canned milk and water). Stir well and heat in microwave until boiling. Add oleo. Beat yolks until mixed well (with fork). Put some hot mixture and stir well (I use wire whisk). Return to microwave and cook until thick, stirring every minute. Pour into baked pie shells. Cover with meringue. Bake at 300 degrees until golden brown.
