Farmerville First Baptist Church Sesquicentennial Cookbook 1847-1997
- 2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 egg yolks (keep whites for meringue)
- 1/4 tsp (pinch) salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 Tbsp butter or oleo
- 1 (9 inch) pie shell, baked
- 2 oz unsweetened chocolate
Combine first 5 ingredients in blender. Mix until flour is dissolved. Place in thick (aluminum) boiler or top of a double boiler. Bring to a boil and cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla, oleo and chocolate. Stir until chocolate is melted. Pour into baked pie shell.
MERINGUE:
Beat egg whites until fluffy. Add 1/3 cup sugar gradually until the egg whites form peaks. Pour over pie and bake until golden brown.
