Candied Canned Yams

  • 1 or 2 pound can YAMS (drained) depending on how many you are feeding
  • 1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) BUTTER
  • 1/2 teaspoon Corn Starch
  • 1/2 cup STEEN’S CANE SYRUP
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon ORANGE ZEST, to your taste
  • Juice of HALF the ORANGE (the other half can be your snack)

While your yams are draining mix and cook all the other ingredients in a sauce pan on medium low whisking occasionally for 3 to 4 minutes to thicken. Then add the drained yams and toss to coat. Let heat 10 minutes or so. Turn off the heat. I made cornbread dressing, ham and purple hull peas to go with them.
