Farmerville First Baptist Church Sesquicentennial Cookbook 1847-1997
Peel and remove seeds from 16 cups cucumbers.
Soak 24 hours in mixture of:
- 1 cup lime
- 1 gallon water
Wash well and soak 3 hours in ice water; drain.
Mix:
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 bottle red food coloring
- 1 tsp alum
- Enough water to cover rings
Simmer 2 hours. Drain well. Throw mixture away.
Mix:
- 1 1/2 cup vinegar
- 2 cup water
- 3 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup red hots
- 4 cinnamon sticks
Simmer until sugar and red hots are melted. Add rings. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes more. Place in jars. Seal while hot.
