Chocolate Pound Cake

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 3 cups flour (sifted 4 or 5 times)
  • 5 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1 cup milk

Grease and flour at 10″ tube pan. Cream butter, sugar, and Crisco. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder and cocoa. Add alternately with milk, beating and mixing well. Add vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees at 1 hour. 1 hour. May take little longer than this. Cool in pan for about 10 or 15 minutes before taking from pan.
