Chocolate Pound Cake

  • 1 1/2 cup butter or margarine (I usually some of both)
  • 3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cup sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 cup cocoa (I don’t use quite this much)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Combine butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and cocoa. Add alternately with the milk, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla and mix well. Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours or until tested done.

Cool 10 or 15 minutes before removing. from pan.
