German Chocolate Brownies

Christmas Cookies

  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 (4 ounce) package sweet baking chocolate, melted
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine eggs and sugar; beat well. Add slightly cooled chocolate, flour, pecans, butter, and vanilla; beat well.

Spread batter in a greased 9-inch square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Cool completely in pan. Spread cooled frosting evenly over brownies, and cut into 1 1/2 inch squares.

Yield: 3 dozen


  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/3 cup flaked coconut

Combine milk, sugar, butter, and egg yolks in a medium saucepan; cook over medium heat Stir until thickened. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla, pecans, and coconut. Cool completely before spreading.

Yield: frosting for 3 dozen squarer.
