Honey-Oatmeal Cookies

Drop Cookies
Christmas Cookies

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup commercial sour cream
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats, uncooked
  • 1 cup chopped dates

Cream butter; gradually add sugar and honey, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir in sour cream, blending well.

Combine flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, and ginger in a medium mixing bowl; add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats and dates, mixing well.

Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased cookies sheets. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool 5 minutes on cookies sheets before removing to wire racks to cool completely. Store in airtight containers.

Yield: about 8 dozen.
