Peanut Butter Crunchies

Rolled and Sliced Cookies
Christmas Cookies

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup chunky peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Cream, butter and peanut butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add water, mixing well.

Sift together flour and soda; Add to creamed mixture, mixing well.

Shape dough into 2 rolls, 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper; chill until firm. Remove waxed paper, and cut into 1/4 inch slices. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 400° for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Yield: 4 1/2 dozen.
