Looking at Cooking with Mildred Swift
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 sticks whole cinnamon
- 4 roots whole ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon whole allspice
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 cups pineapple juice
- 2 cups grapefruit juice
- 1 1/2 cups apricot juice
- orange slices
- whole cloves
Combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Add cinnamon. Tie ginger, cloves, and allspice in a cheese cloth bag and add. Bring to boiling point, and boil 3 minutes. Remove spices and add fruit juices. Heat only until hot. Serve in mugs or punch cups with slices of lemon or orange studded with whole cloves floating over the top.
Makes 2 quarts.
