Looking at Cooking and Garden Jobs with Mildred Swift
- 1 1/4 cups cornmeal
- 1/3 cup flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar (or less)
- 1 egg (large or 2 small)
- 1 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons melted fat
- 1 teaspoon salt
Sift dry ingredients into large bowl. Beat egg, add milk, and melted fat. Make a well in center of dry ingredients. Pour wet ingredients in this. Mix thoroughly. Pour into heated, greased pan (about 8 inches by 8 inches by 2 inches), and bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until mixture pulls away from sides of pan.
