Kathleen T. Turnage

Farmerville First Baptist Church Sesquicentennial Cookbook 1847-1997

Melt 2 squares of oleo and 1 box of light brown sugar; set aside to cool.

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped

Put oleo and sugar in boiler and leave over gas pilot light at night; convenient! (Or microwave and put aside to cool.)

Add to beaten eggs and then add nuts and vanilla, then slowly add dry ingredients, which have been sifted together. Bake in 325 degree oven to 25 minutes. Cool before cutting.
